We are Uganda Key Populations Consortium
The Uganda Key Population Consortium – UKPC was formed on 19th July 2018 at Mulago Referral Hospital, Kampala to bring together representatives of Key Populations (KPs) to collectively define and advocate for issues of common concern including response to shrinking resources and space for key population-led organizations. The UKPC thus serves as an advocacy platform coordinating strategic action and supporting systems and structure strengthening for all members.

Our Projects
Urgent Support to Address Security Needs Under COVID-19 project.
So far, we have reached 66% of the community members with this support and we hope to finalize soon with the remaining 34%. Other key components in this intervention include relocation, online psychological support, strengthening communication among key population leaders and promotion of peer support.
PITCH
The Partnership to Inspire, Transform and Connect the HIV response (PITCH) focused on supporting marginalised people to change the services, law, policies, practices and mindsets that affect their everyday lives.
UHAI joins UKPC to support her members as we fight COVID-19.
We secured funding from UHAI under the Uganda Key Populations Consortium (UKPC) Proposal for COVID-19 Emergency Response. Homelessness is an issue among our community members, we will be reaching out to some of our members to avert this situation thanks to this support. Other key components will include support toward the emotional and psychological well being and national KP coordination. This support will be targeting LGBT and sex worker communities.
Frontline AIDS and Aidsfond
PITCH has been our close ally from the very start of the founding of UKPC in 2018. Frontline AIDS provided funds to SMUG that enabled the convening and carrying out of UKPC activities. With the growth of UKPC, PITCH alliance partners, Frontline AIDS and Aidsfond once again through SMUG have provided resources to UKPC to develop the operations framework, governance structures and support for mentorship for UKPC leaders. We already contracted a consultant to support the development of the operations framework, governance structure and membership.
