National Coordinator
Richard Lusimbo is a well-known and respected LGBTIQ+ and Human Rights activist across the African continent and hails from Uganda, East Africa. He started his activism in his early twenties and has been a trailblazer for young leadership in Uganda and beyond. He is currently the Founder and National Coordinator of the Uganda Key Populations Consortium, a coalition of key population organisations and networks that brings together representatives of key populations to collectively define and advocate for issues of common concern, including response to shrinking civic space and resources for key population-led programming in Uganda. Richard holds a Bachelor of Information Technology degree from Uganda Christian University and a Master of Philosophy in Human Rights and Democratization in Africa (MPhil HRDA) from the Centre for Human Rights, Faculty of Law, University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Richard is a passionate advocate for marginalised community voices to be present in policy, laws, national frameworks, working groups, committees, and all spaces where their human rights and health issues are discussed and documented.
